I think Apple is an amazing company with some crazy revolutionary ideas. I have always held them in high regard. I believe the Windows PC business is full of box makers with no concept of innovation whatsoever. In fact, if I were to go out on a limb I would say that Apple is truly the most innovative PC company ever.So for a small company like Voodoo to innovate at the level that Apple innovates is difficult, but not totally impossible. We were the first company in the world to offer a fanless workstation featuring dual processors, we also offer the only fanless gaming PC. We completely redesigned the way high performance PCs are built with the new liquid cooled OMEN machine, and we continue to raise the bar on innovation with systems like our EPIC and ARIA media centers.
Now the IDOL is a main point of controversy today. Our IDOL may be similar to the MAC Mini, except the IDOL comes with a faster processor, gigabit ethernet, S-Video & composite, and a faster hard drive. In general our IDOL is a Mini PC on steroids. The nice thing about this system is we launched it with or without an OS, so any smart person can use the OS of their choice on this baby.
The reason I'm writing this entry in my weblog is because I've received a surprising number of emails from Apple PC users spitting venom. Now I love the support, if anything I’ve learned that Apple users are fiercely loyal. Ladies and gentlemen, I KNOW we didn't dream up this idea on our own, no need to make that clear in a flaming email bomb. Like it or not, Apple didn't invent the square, so please don’t hate the player hate the game. You can flame me now.
The IDOL is targeted to users who are looking for a second or third PC in the home. To us, this is a stocking stuffer, and it's an amazing system for its size. It's also the least expensive PC Voodoo has ever made, and it's unlikely that we'll make another PC in this price range again.

it's gigabit, not gigabyte :p
Rahul, some people are jealous of Voodoo's and your brilliance. I can tell you that the Idol is a great machine, and anyone whom calls it a rip off, obviously is shooting their mouth off.
Your in the lux. PC business, your avg consumer (I'm guessing) is the rich and the weathly... Wouldn't it be wise to have more of a product variation with your computers? That is what they pay for... To be different, no?
But honestly I don't mean to be a jerk when I say that... I love your ideals, and your goals of the company... In producing the best pc possible, rather than, the most expensive collection of parts possible.
If you would like to discuss some strategies your welcome to email me. arrrwalktheplank@gmail.com. If not, that's cool too.
Demetrius.
I'm sorry, but to me it looks rather expensive. Ok. So the CPU is faster. The HD is faster. But integrated vid card? I suppose the Mac Minis already poor Radeon 9200 is better? (ok, neither card will turn the thing into a gaming machine, so it probably doesn't matter) And then you are stuck with Windows or Linux? Whereas MacOS X is probably the big selling point for Apple? You pay more and get less (depending on whats important to you of course, but the Mac Mini is said to be fast enough for normal work up to video editing (except for a few hd intensive tasks)). Hmm...
Hrm. $799 for a Mac Mini configured as closely as possible to the VooDooPC Idol, PLUS built-in 802.11g wireless networking, Bluetooth, FireWire, and iLife '05, all shipped to your home for free with immediate availability. VooDooPC costs $1414.44 with XP Professional (since OS X is included with the Mini) and around 30 days ETA, if you want it shipped to you. ($118 cheaper if you go and pick it up). Think I'll take the former. :)
LOL.. I sure as hell would pay the 600 for something that looks nicer, has better tech support, and 22 different colors to choose from. Someone would have to pay me to use a mac with OSX..
