I setup a new Gaming PC today

I've been playing Age of Empires III and I thought I'd give F.E.A.R. a chance. I setup a brand new Voodoo OMEN PC today with an AMD FX-57, NVIDIA GeForce 7800GTX SLI, and 1 terrabyte of storage. A bit extreme perhaps, but I've been getting into the new games, and I want to get an Apple 30" Cinemadisplay to see how well it functions in newer games. Anyways, F.E.A.R. scares the heck out of me, it is very well done - and if you dump one of the new Creative soundcards in your machine, it's pretty awesome. These days I rarely get a chance to play games, but when I do I want to maximize my experience, and this configuration is exactly what you need to make it happen.
  • Good quality 650 watt power supply with modular connections
  • Water cooling is nice if you like silence, or high end air cooling. Our Voodoo OMEN is loaded and near silent.
  • ASUS A8N32-SLI Motherboard
  • AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 (no question this is the best gaming processor out there). If you want to play games and do other things as well a dual core Athlon 64 4800+ might fit the bill nicely.
  • 2 Gigabytes Corsair XMS Pro low latency PC-3500 memory. This memory was designed by Corsair and is the only memory sanctioned by ASUS for best performance. It's totally killer stuff and you can really see the difference.
  • 2 500 Gigabyte Hitachi Deskstar 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drives. These are my favorite hard drives, they run a bit warm so an aluminium chassis helps.
  • A couple of NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX video cards enabled in SLI mode.
  • Any of the new Creative Labs X-FI soundcards - well worth the money.
  • Microsoft Media Center 2005 with a dual NVIDIA TV Tuner.

Other than this you can drop some cash on a quality gaming keyboard and mouse. I love Logitech stuff, I also really like my Saitek gaming keyboard. All of this will set you back a pretty penny if built right, just make sure you use good quality fans and a top-end chassis. If you prefer not to build your own then our OMEN or RAGE system is pretty much the way to go, they come highly recommended.

I think the title of your last post pretty much sums up how i feel about that system you're using. I want one! :-( And yes, FEAR is awesome. Still haven't beaten it yet, but I love it.

I plan on getting a Voodoo OMEN DCC Workstation myself once something that me and some friends of mine are working on goes through. Its either that or a quad processor Mac and dual 30 inch displays for either system I end up getting.

Let me know how the apple 30" works with FEAR. I've been saving up for one, and want to see if current graphics tech. and work well in conjunction. THis includes technologies like HDR too.

On something like that the pricing is around $5000 USD. It's not cheap, but near silence is awesome.
