Isn't Technology Insane?

This is a computer for a bicycle. Not just any computer, mind you, it's a Garmin 305 which features a built-in GPS, Cadence, Heart Monitor, and pretty much any cyclist could ever dream of having on a bike. You can even set up a virtual partner and race the computer on the way to the office.

Being a tech geek, it's gadgets like this that reminds me of why I'm involved with technology. Only a few years ago you'd need to carry around a full sized tower PC to handle the type of processing that this thing offers. I wonder when AMD, ATi, Intel, and NVIDIA will get involved in something like this?

Rahul,

Have you seen those bikes that are motorized moutain bikes. They have the computers on them you described and also have a battery operated motor that can reach upwards of 45 MPH.

Wow. Nice carbon fiber handlebars. What kind of bike do you ride? I'm guessing some kind of chi-chi custom?

That's not my bike, but I do have XXX Carbon Bontrager bars and post. I have a few bikes, but the main roads are a Specialized Tarmac Pro which I love, and a custom Trek Voodoo Project One Madone 5.9 SL decked out to the teeth. I rode the latter in the RFR and will be using it more next summer. The Specialized is a good daily grinder, and it's a great bike.
