If you're a console gamer, rumour has it that the PS3 will not launch in 1 market, let alone 3 markets in Spring of next year. I imagine that there just won't be any content developed for it in time for an early launch. My best guess is Q1 2007, with alot of pre-sales hype on Q4 2006. XBOX 360 might be the best choice at the moment simply because there are no other current hardware alternatives and the game selection looks to be quite promising.
Sony better put out something spectacular with that kind of delay and my guess is it will be quite an amazing product because Nvidia is behind the platform.
I'm going to be getting an XBOX360 pretty soon - not that I prefer console games, but I do like sports games on console.

Cant say im so hot on consoles, very much PC me self... But I do enjoy the technology in the new game consoles, as they have recently been very interesting, very focused, computers. Like the X box, just a really cheap tight computer. So the hardware fan in my loves to see what they come up with.

With all of this delay and drawbacks, Sony better be stepping back and see what their competitors are doing wrong/right, so that they don't make the same mistakes or improve on them to lure in customers after a year of MS's dominance.
They should not even call them consoles anymore. They are just computer now only for idiots. Keyboard and mouse are the only way to go. Also I am sure that kids 400 dollar PSP is just blowing the compition away. Oh wait...my old N64 looks better. Let me see here AMD X2, Intel EE, the new ATI cards (I know you are nVidia fan but they are pretty sweet), and you know that nvidia is going to pull somethign sweet out when they get done with the PS3, let me see... the new socket set being worked on by AMD, the fact they are going to get DDR2 on a mobo. Obviously coputers are on top and will always be.
When PS3 does arrive, it will blow the doors.
I am willing to wait for the screaming Cell Processor.
