VoodooPC to Sponsor 3DMark 2006

Hardware enthusiasts (mostly gamers) love to "drag" their systems by running benchmark comparisons. Generally the best way to test your computer is to run real world tests such as programs and games. With 3DMark 2006, Futuremark has created some incredibly impressive graphics renderings which all game developers should aspire to implement.

I normally dread running the latest 3DMark because it usually tells me how obsolete my current hardware is. The great thing about it is it creates a competition of sorts between ATi and Nvidia, and it generally raises the bar and removes mind barriers for game developers and hardware manufacturers. I was actually shocked that we can run 3DMark 2006 on some of our notebooks - this clearly shows us we're going in the right direction.

At Voodoo we run a number of benchmarks on all of our PCs, including a suite of games, applications, and of course 3DMark. This gives us a good indication of how your PC performs before we ship it and it allows us to tweak the performance to give you a better gaming experience. Generally speaking if your system cannot run looping 3DMark for hours at a time there is most likely a problem with the hardware or a driver. This isn't always the case, but it's a good way to beat down your hardware and test for stability.

So here's the deal, as we continue to test and approve new hardware we have compiled a list of Voodoo recommended hardware. We know that our PCs may not be for everyone, but many people like to know our recommendations so they can build their own. We base our recommendations on performance history, reliability, warranty, and service. We have created a list of hardware called "Voodoo Must Have" and some of our picks will be featured in the latest 3DMark 2006 in about a week.

We will continue to evolve our "Voodoo Must Have" program as it is an everchanging program. If you are a hardware manufacturer and you want your hardware to be used in our systems, feel free to drop me an email. If your stuff is good, then there's no reason we wouldn't consider carrying it.
