Letting the cat out of the bag

If you have never had the pleasure of picking up a copy of Custom PC magazine do yourself a favor and find one. It's a totally different experience from American magazines for many reasons.

The geography in the U.K. allows publishers to use larger format designs along with heavier stock paper. In North America we have such a large geographic area that it doesn't make financial sense for publishers to publish on this heavy stock paper. In the U.K. most people purchase magazines from the newsstand, whereas in North America it is normally subscription based so the costs associated are much higher for postage.

Regardless, Custom PC magazine has some of the nicest photography and layouts of any hardware magazine that I’ve seen. It’s among my favorite hardware magazines for sure.

So I guess it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. I am now writing a regular short column for Custom PC in the U.K. I will still be writing for CPU magazine, and Dailytech as well, and I’ll try to link to the stories from my blog.

So, if you get a chance check out Custom PC – it’s fantastic, and certainly worth a long distance subscription.

How do you order customer PC to the USA? I saw it on Amazon and it was $110 dollars for 12 issues!! It was cheaper to buy and Barnes and Nobles off the newstand.

The cost for a 12 month subscription is £60 for Europe and £80 for the rest of the world. Obviously, it's a lot cheaper for people in the UK!

You can get a sub buy emailing custompc@cisubs.co.uk.

However, we do punt some copies out to the US via Barnes and Noble, as the previous poster mentioned.
