Voodoo Launches Worlds Fastest "Notebook"

This isn't exactly a notebook, it's more of a giant laptop/transportable. The new ENVY Heavyweight u:909 features a 19" 1680x1050 display, Nvidia SLI Graphics with dual GeForce 7800 GTX 256 meg video cards. It also supports a large 160 GB hard drive, and it is available in multiple custom colors with personal tattoos.

We are taking orders now, and deliveries will commence in about fourty five days.

Nice! However, if it's a heavyweight machine, huge display and everything, why use the Turion and not the desktop processors like previous HW laptops?

A monster like that couldn't last longer than half an hour on the battery with a desktop processor. Besides, why would you need a desktop processor with two GeForce video cards?

The reason for the Turion processor is because it decreases the overall thermal budget of the machine thereby allowing for two high powered graphics cards in SLI.

nice one, wonder, what is the price range?

quick question not pertaining to the laptop: Alienware, Falcon, and numerous other computer retailers have launched SLi 7900 QUAD systems, why hasn't voodoo released a quad system yet?

We didn't launch quad SLI until we got our water blocks in order. We will launch this week.

Why not the Core Duo, if you don't mind my asking? Actually, benchmarks indicate the Pentium M (single core, mind you) actually outperforms the Turion 64 in gaming. : /

The Core Duo is likely to do it even moreso due to it's faster front side bus, large, low-latency L2 cache and the fact that there's a second processor on it.

Not on nForce4. If you compare both chips on a desktop platform, Turion 64 is much better than Pentium M. As far as Core Duo goes, it's quite good no doubt - but because it's only 32 bit and it's hardly available when this platform was being designed most of the people involved in the design felt AMD was the superior choice.

Does anyone know the price for this new laptop?

Any option for TurionX2 when its avaliable??

Now all you guys need to do is release an 8 DIMM slot/2 socket 6150 for us devs that don't need graphics power but need LOTS OF RAM. Do you know how hard it is to develop for a massive server using the average dev box?

Someone please.

There comes a point where it shouldnt be called a "notebook," and this thing has rocketed past that point. Any computer that weighs this much needs its own classification - calling it a mobile workstation or graphics station is a better option, and the only practical market for a product like this is the hardcore gamer who doesnt want to lug his desktop to a LAN party.

When will more information be available on voodoopc.com for the new notebook? Currently, there is just a single, small picture of the laptop.
